SASSI is a Complete 4 DVD Set with Special Foam Roller.
Using This System Results in Strength
& Stability for Your SI Joint.
What is the SI joint?
The sacroiliac (SI) joints are in the lower back and formed
by the connection of the sacrum and the right and left iliac
bones. The SI joints connect the spine to the pelvis and is
held together by ligaments. There is little movement at the
SI joints.
What is SI joint dysfunction?
A condition that causes pain in the SI joints. SASSI aids
in the relief of SI joint dysfunction using a special regiment
of Pilates and the foam roller.
What are other names for SI joint
dysfunction?
SI joint syndrome, SI joint strain, SI joint inflammation.
What are some of the causes of
SI joint dysfunction?
1) Arthritis - The cartilage layer that covers the SI
joint becomes damaged or worn away. This causes the bones to
rub against one another and degenerative arthritis (osteoarthritis)
to occur.
2) Pregnancy - During pregnancy hormones are released
to allow ligaments to relax. This relaxation of the ligaments
that hold the SI joints together allows for increased motion
in the joints and can lead to increased stresses and abnormal
wear. Altered posture, gait and weight gain during pregnancy
can attribute to SI joint dysfunction.
3) Trauma - A fall on the buttocks that jolts the joints.
4) Biomechanical - Leg length differences, over-pronation,
twisted pelvis, muscle imbalances.
What are some of the symptoms
of SI joint dysfunction?
1) Pain located either on the left-side or right-side of your
lower back. The pain can range from an ache to a sharp pain
which can restrict movement. The pain may radiate out into your
buttocks and low back and will often radiate to the front into
the groin.
2) Difficulty turning over in bed.
3) Difficulty putting on shoes and socks.
4) Pain getting your legs in and out of the car.
5) Stiffness in the lower back when getting up after sitting
for long periods and/or getting out of bed in the morning.
6) Aching on one side of your lower back when driving long distances.
If you need relief from lower
back pain, get SASSI.
